For the Cake
  • 1 box 14 oz vanilla cake mix Or homemade vanilla cake
  • 1.5 cups milk
For the Peanut Butter Filling
  • 1 cup smooth or crunchy peanut butter
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Ensure at room temperature
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the Cream Layers
  • 1.5 cups whipped cream or whipped topping Can also use heavy cream whipped to stiff peaks
  • 1.5 cups heavy cream Whipped to stiff peaks
For Assembly
  • 3 pieces ripe bananas, sliced Use overripe bananas for better flavor
  • chopped optional peanuts For garnish

Method
 

Bake the Vanilla Cake
  1. Bake the vanilla cake mix according to package directions or make your own homemade vanilla cake from scratch.
  2. Allow it to cool completely, then cut it into bite-sized cubes.
Prepare the Peanut Butter Filling
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the peanut butter, softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.
  2. Use an electric mixer to beat them together until smooth and creamy.
Incorporate Whipped Cream
  1. Gently fold the whipped cream into the peanut butter mixture to create the filling.
Layer the Trifle
  1. In a trifle dish or individual cups, layer the ingredients starting with cake cubes, followed by sliced bananas, and then peanut butter filling.
  2. Repeat layers until the dish is full, finishing with whipped cream on top.
Garnish
  1. Sprinkle nuts, chocolate chips, or additional banana slices on top for decoration.
Chill
  1. Cover the trifle with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
