Ingredients
  

For the Cake
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2.5 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1.75 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 0.33 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 tbsp hot water to dissolve cocoa powder
For the Chocolate Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2-3 tbsp milk adjust for consistency
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract for flavoring the glaze

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, followed by the vanilla extract.
  5. Alternately add the flour mixture and milk to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. In a small bowl, dissolve the cocoa powder in hot water to form a chocolate paste.
  7. Divide the batter in half; mix the chocolate paste into one half.
  8. Spoon alternating dollops of vanilla and chocolate batter into the prepared pan and swirl with a knife.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Glazing
  1. To make the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  2. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cake.

Notes

For the best results, ensure eggs are at room temperature, and use softened butter for a light batter. Consider adding sea salt to the glaze for a salted caramel vibe.
