Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time and stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, without overmixing.
- Fill the cupcake liners about two-thirds full with batter.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes. Check for doneness with a toothpick.
- Let the cupcakes cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
Filling & Decorating
- Create a hole in the center of each cupcake and fill with jam.
- Frost each cupcake with buttercream and decorate with sprinkles or toppings.
