Ingredients

Cheese Bites Ingredients
  • 8 oz mozzarella cheese (or cheese of your choice), cut into cubes This creamy cheese melts beautifully, providing a rich, gooey center.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Light and fluffy, this forms the first layer of your crispy coating.
  • 2 large eggs These will bind the breadcrumbs to the cheese, creating a golden crust.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (Italian or panko) Opt for Italian for added flavor, or panko for extra crunch.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Aromatic and slightly pungent, adding depth to the flavor profile.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning A blend of herbs that brings warmth and familiarity to the dish.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Classic seasonings that enhance the overall taste.
  • as needed Oil for frying (vegetable or canola) Essential for achieving that crispy golden exterior.
  • to serve Marinara sauce (for dipping) A rich, tangy complement that perfectly balances the cheese's richness.

Method

Preparation
  1. Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium heat, targeting about 350°F (175°C).
  2. Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one for flour, one for beaten eggs, and one for breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  3. Take each cheese cube and lightly toss it in flour, shaking off any excess.
  4. Dip the floured cheese into the beaten eggs, letting any extra drip off before moving to the breadcrumb mixture.
  5. Coat the cheese cubes generously with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to ensure they are fully covered.
Frying
  1. Carefully drop the coated cheese cubes into the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.
  2. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown, turning occasionally for even cooking.
  3. Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried cheese bites and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
Serving
  1. Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping and enjoy!

Notes

Work in small batches while frying to maintain consistent oil temperature. Keep the fried bites warm in an oven set to low heat while finishing the batch.
