Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, cake flour, cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a stand mixer or large bowl, beat the cold, cubed butter with light brown and granulated sugar until light and fluffy for about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the egg and egg yolk one at a time, mixing well after each addition, and mix in vanilla extract if using.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the butter-sugar mixture and mix until just combined.
- Fold in milk chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
Baking
- Using a cookie scoop, drop large dough balls onto prepared baking sheets, spaced 3 inches apart.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until edges are golden brown and centers are soft.
- Let cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Serving
- Enjoy your giant, gooey chocolate chip cookies warm or at room temperature!
Notes
Use cold butter for thicker cookies. Chilling the dough can enhance taste and texture. Add nuts or more chocolate for variations.
