Method
Cook the Steak and Vegetables
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once shimmering, add the ribeye steak slices and cook for 2-3 minutes until browned.
- Add the sliced onion and optional bell pepper, sautéing for another 2-3 minutes until softened.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant. Season with salt and pepper to taste and set aside.
Prepare the Garlic Butter Mixture
- In a small bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, dried parsley, dried oregano, and a pinch of salt. Mix well.
Prep the Bread and Assemble
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the loaf of bread lengthwise and hollow out the inside, leaving a small edge.
- Brush the inside with half of the garlic butter mixture. Layer the philly cheesesteak mixture inside the bread, followed by the provolone and cheddar cheeses.
- Brush the outside of the bread with the remaining garlic butter mixture.
Bake and Serve
- Place the assembled loaf on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
- Let cool slightly before slicing and serve warm.
Notes
Consider adding sautéed mushrooms or jalapeños for extra flavor. Use leaner cuts or lower-fat cheeses for a healthier version. Always ensure your bread is fresh for the best texture.
