Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, French onion soup mix, breadcrumbs, milk, eggs, Parmesan cheese, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.
- Press half of the meatloaf mixture into the prepared loaf pan, ensuring an even layer.
- Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese generously over it.
- Finish with the remaining meatloaf mixture, pressing it down gently to seal in the cheese.
Baking
- In a small bowl, mix the ketchup, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce. Spread this glaze over the top of the meatloaf.
- Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until the meatloaf is cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C).
- In the last 10 minutes of baking, sprinkle the French fried onions on top.
- Let the meatloaf rest for a few minutes before slicing. Serve and enjoy!
Notes
For best results, mix the ingredients gently—overmixing can lead to a dense meatloaf. Consider using ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version. Let the meatloaf rest after baking to help juices redistribute.
