Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour tart pans.
- In a food processor, combine flour and powdered sugar until mixed.
- Add cold butter and pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Incorporate egg yolk and cold water, pulsing until a dough forms.
- Press the dough into the tart pan, covering the bottom and sides, and prick the base with a fork.
- Chill the tart crust in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow the crust to cool completely.
Filling
- In a medium saucepan, heat heavy cream and granulated sugar over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and pink food coloring.
- Pour the filling into the cooled tart crust and refrigerate for at least 2 hours until set.
Serving
- Before serving, garnish the tart with edible flowers or fondant decorations and dust with powdered sugar.
Notes
Ensure butter is cold for a flaky crust. Chill the crust to help it hold shape. Consider using a store-bought crust to save time. Experiment with flavors and colors for the filling.
