Method
Preparation
- Begin by boiling water and cooking the instant ramen noodles according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain and set them aside.
Making the Sauce
- In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and minced ginger.
Simmering the Broth
- Pour chicken broth (or water) into a small saucepan and bring it to a simmer over medium heat.
Combining the Flavors
- Add the sauce mixture to the simmering broth. Stir well to combine all the flavors and let it simmer for about 3-4 minutes.
Thickening the Sauce (Optional)
- If you desire a thicker consistency, mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water. Pour this mixture into the saucepan and continue simmering until the sauce thickens.
Tossing the Noodles
- Add the cooked ramen noodles to the saucepan, tossing everything together gently to coat the noodles in the sauce. Stir in the chili paste or sriracha if you want a spicy kick.
Serving
- Serve the saucy ramen in bowls, garnished with chopped green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds, if desired.
Notes
Customize your sauce, add protein, and toss in vegetables to enhance the dish's nutritional profile.
