Meat Mixture
  • 1.5 pounds ground beef The star of your meatloaf, tender and wonderfully juicy.
  • 1 cup French onion soup Infuses each bite with a deep, savory aroma.
  • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs Provides the ideal texture to bind the meatloaf.
  • 0.25 cup grated Parmesan cheese Adds a sharp, nutty flavor.
  • 1 piece egg Acts as a binding agent.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Brings an aromatic punch.
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder Deepens the onion flavor.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Essential seasonings.
Topping
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese Melts to create a gooey topping.
Garnish
  • Fresh parsley Optional for garnish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, French onion soup, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  2. Shape the meat mixture into a loaf form and place it in the center of the crockpot.
Cooking
  1. Cover the crockpot and set it to low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
  2. Check that the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  3. About 15 minutes before serving, sprinkle shredded Swiss cheese on top of the meatloaf and cover again.
Serving
  1. Carefully remove the meatloaf from the crockpot, let it rest for a few minutes, then slice into serving portions.
  2. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired, and enjoy!

Notes

For lighter versions, you can use ground turkey or chicken. Leftover French onion soup can be used for dipping. You can also prep the meat mixture the night before.
