Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan to ensure that your bread doesn’t stick as it bakes.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 2 cups of flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and 1/2 cup of sugar until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 large egg, 1 cup of buttermilk, 1/4 cup of melted butter, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to form the wet mixture.
- Gently pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix to keep the bread tender.
- In a small bowl, prepare your cinnamon swirl by combining 1/4 cup of sugar, 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon, and 1 tablespoon of melted butter until well mixed.
Baking
- Transfer half of the batter to your prepared loaf pan and drizzle half of the cinnamon mixture over the batter.
- Add the remaining batter and top it with the rest of the cinnamon mixture.
- Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl the cinnamon mixture into the batter.
- Bake in your preheated oven for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cooling
- Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before gently transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
