Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Stir in the vanilla extract, flour, and salt until everything is combined.
  4. Fold in the mini chocolate chips gently.
  5. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the crescent roll dough, pinching the seams together to form a smooth rectangle.
  6. Spread the cookie dough mixture evenly over the crescent roll dough.
  7. Cut the dough into strips about 1 inch wide.
  8. Twist each strip several times to create swirls of cookie dough within the flaky layers.
  9. Place the twisted strips on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  10. Brush the twists with the beaten egg and optionally sprinkle with extra chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
  2. Let the twists cool slightly before serving.
