Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
- Stir in the vanilla extract, flour, and salt until everything is combined.
- Fold in the mini chocolate chips gently.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the crescent roll dough, pinching the seams together to form a smooth rectangle.
- Spread the cookie dough mixture evenly over the crescent roll dough.
- Cut the dough into strips about 1 inch wide.
- Twist each strip several times to create swirls of cookie dough within the flaky layers.
- Place the twisted strips on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Brush the twists with the beaten egg and optionally sprinkle with extra chocolate chips.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
- Let the twists cool slightly before serving.
