Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out the pie crust and place it into a pie dish, pressing it into the edges.
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with the diced onion until fully cooked, draining any excess fat.
- Stir in pizza sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Remove from heat and mix in half of the shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
- Pour the beef mixture into the prepared pie crust. Top with remaining cheese and optional pepperoni.
- Cover with a second pie crust, seal edges, and cut slits in the top crust.
- Brush the top crust with the beaten egg.
Baking
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until the crust is golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before slicing.
Notes
For added flavor, consider mixing in fresh chopped herbs, crushed red pepper flakes, or sautéing vegetables. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to three days or freeze for longer storage.
