Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine heavy cream, milk, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Stir well.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the prepared baking dish.
  5. Pour half of the creamy mixture over the first layer of potatoes.
  6. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese over the potatoes.
  7. Repeat with the remaining sliced potatoes, followed by the rest of the cream mixture, and top with the remaining cheddar cheese and grated Parmesan.
Baking
  1. Cover the dish with aluminum foil, then bake for 45 minutes.
  2. Carefully remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
  3. Let the dish cool for a few minutes before sprinkling with fresh parsley.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream. Layer in vegetables for added nutrition.
