Method
Preparation
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for 2-3 minutes until softened.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet with the onions. Cook until the beef is browned and crumbly, draining excess fat.
- Stir in Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Fold in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted slightly.
Assembly & Cooking
- Lay an egg roll wrapper flat. Place a spoonful of the beef and cheese mixture in the center.
- Brush the edges of the wrapper with the beaten egg, and fold tightly, tucking in the sides.
- Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Fry the egg rolls in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove egg rolls from oil and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with dipping sauces like ketchup, mustard, or a creamy special sauce.
Notes
Avoid overfilling the egg rolls to prevent leaks. You can freeze un-fried rolls for quick snacks. Experiment with different cheeses for new flavors.
