Method
 

Prepare the Cream Cheese Filling
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, 1 large egg, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Beat until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
Preheat the Oven
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
Make the Cake Batter
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat together 1/2 cup softened unsalted butter and 1 cup granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add in the 2 large eggs and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract; beat until fully incorporated.
  4. Gradually mix in dry ingredients, alternating with 1 cup sour cream, until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Assemble the Cake
  1. Pour half of the cake batter into the greased baking pan, spreading evenly.
  2. Spoon the cream cheese filling over the batter, followed by the remaining batter on top.
  3. Sprinkle fresh blueberries evenly over the top of the batter.
Prepare the Streusel Topping
  1. In a small bowl, mix together 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon.
  2. Cut in 1/4 cup cold cubed unsalted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Sprinkle the streusel topping generously over the cake.
Bake
  1. Place the baking pan in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes.
  2. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out clean.
Cool Before Serving
  1. Remove the cake from the oven and allow to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes.
  2. Transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and serve when cooled.
