Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare two 9-inch round cake pans by greasing and flouring them or lining them with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, black cocoa powder, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, granulated sugar, vegetable oil, softened butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and white vinegar. Add the black food coloring to achieve your desired shade.
- Gradually combine the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Stir gently until just incorporated.
- Divide the batter evenly into your prepared cake pans.
Baking
- Bake in your preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Cooling & Frosting
- Once baked, allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Frost with your favorite frosting, slice, and enjoy!
Notes
Tips: Ensure your butter is softened to room temperature, sift dry ingredients to avoid lumps, and use an oven thermometer for accuracy.
