Preparation
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat for a few minutes.
- Butter one side of each slice of bread.
- On the unbuttered side of one slice, spread mayonnaise; on the other, spread Dijon mustard if using.
- Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, on the skillet. Start layering with a slice of cheese, a generous amount of roast beef, and top with another slice of cheese.
- Top with the second slice of bread, ensuring the mayonnaise/mustard side faces inward.
Cooking
- Grill the sandwich for 3-4 minutes on each side until the bread is golden, crispy, and cheese is melted, pressing down gently with a spatula.
- Optionally, add thinly sliced onions during grilling for enhanced flavor.
Serving
- Once the sandwich is done, let it rest for a minute before cutting it in half. Serve immediately.
Notes
Use quality ingredients for best results and adjust heat to prevent burning the bread.
