  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese For stuffing.
For baking
  • 1 tbsp olive oil For greasing.
  • 2 cups marinara sauce Serves as a perfect companion.
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes Optional for added heat.
  • Fresh basil leaves For garnish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking sheet with olive oil.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Mix until evenly incorporated.
Form the Meatballs
  1. Flatten a small amount of the meatball mixture in your palm.
  2. Place 1 tablespoon of shredded mozzarella cheese in the center, then form the meat around the cheese, sealing it inside.
  3. Roll into a smooth ball and place it on the baking sheet. Repeat with remaining mixture.
Bake
  1. Bake the meatballs for 18-20 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
Heat the Marinara Sauce
  1. While the meatballs bake, heat marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat. Add red pepper flakes if desired.
  2. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Serving
  1. Once baked, serve meatballs hot with marinara sauce and garnish with fresh basil leaves.

Notes

For juicier meatballs, consider adding a little milk or cheese. Keep hands wet when forming meatballs to avoid sticking.
