Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking sheet with olive oil.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Mix until evenly incorporated.
Form the Meatballs
- Flatten a small amount of the meatball mixture in your palm.
- Place 1 tablespoon of shredded mozzarella cheese in the center, then form the meat around the cheese, sealing it inside.
- Roll into a smooth ball and place it on the baking sheet. Repeat with remaining mixture.
Bake
- Bake the meatballs for 18-20 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
Heat the Marinara Sauce
- While the meatballs bake, heat marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat. Add red pepper flakes if desired.
- Simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Serving
- Once baked, serve meatballs hot with marinara sauce and garnish with fresh basil leaves.
Notes
For juicier meatballs, consider adding a little milk or cheese. Keep hands wet when forming meatballs to avoid sticking.
